Telegram as an ICT Tool for Information Sharing in College

Image
In the age of digital learning, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools play a crucial role in improving the flow of information in educational institutions. Among these tools, Telegram has proven to be an effective platform for delivering real-time updates and essential academic information in our college.  Telegram is used not just for messaging, but more importantly, as a centralized source of information . Groups like “PCE: Games and Sports” and “CR of Spring Semester 2024” serve as hubs for timely updates. For example, announcements about event registrations, coordination meetings, sports schedules, and exam room allocations are regularly posted.  ICT tools like Telegram enable the sharing of multimedia files, QR codes, documents, and messages with large groups, making information accessible to everyone instantly. The use of features such as pinned messages, QR codes, and structured group discussions allows students and staff to quickly find and...

Picture of ICT as Constructive Tool

These two tools — Google Docs and Google Sheets — are useful tools we use to help us work better together and stay organized. Google Docs is an online writing tool that lets people create and edit documents. Many people can work on the same document at the same time, which is great for group work or team projects. It also lets users leave comments, suggest changes, and see older versions of the document. This helps everyone share ideas and make the work better step by step. Google Sheets is an online spreadsheet tool used to organize and look at information. It’s helpful for making charts, lists, schedules, or keeping track of numbers, like in a budget or a project plan. Just like Google Docs, many people can work on a sheet at the same time, which saves time and keeps everyone on the same page. You can also use simple tools to highlight important things or check for mistakes in the data. Both Google Docs and Google Sheets are easy to use and work on any device with internet. T...

ICT as Co-Constructive Tool

Co-constructive classroom tools are like having an electronic toolbox that facilitates learning as a collective experience. Instead of working on individual assignments in isolation, students are now able to build knowledge collaboratively together in shared online spaces. They encourage cooperation, creativity, and participation. For instance, Google Docs is similar to a virtual notebook where all users can write, edit, and comment simultaneously. It's perfect for collaborative projects, class notes, or planning ideas. Google Sheets can also be utilized to gather and analyze data in groups or even make interactive quizzes. Another awesome resource is Coggle, which allows students to construct visual mind maps collaboratively, enabling them to link ideas and structure information in an exciting and interactive manner. With co-constructive materials, the learning is done in collaboration. The pupils are not just sitting there listening to the teacher or doing it by themselves. No, ...

Reflection on Assistive Technologies for Inclusive Classroom

Inclusive education aims to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students, regardless of ability. Assistive technology plays an important role in fostering inclusivity because it allows learners who have a variety of needs to fully participate in classroom activities. In this reflection, I look at two assistive technologies: Audio-to-Text Converters and Screen Magnifiers, focusing on their educational relevance, appropriateness in inclusive settings, and how they help students learn.   Audio to text converter or speech to text converter software . Audio to text converter are an assistive tools that transcribes spoken language into written text in real-time. Students who struggle to hear or students with hearing impairment and student facing physical challenges to write can benefit from this software. Google Live Transcribe and Microsoft Dictate are commonly used in educational contexts. These tools enhances learning by offering students access to verbal instru...

ICT as Information Tools

ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is a valuable learning tool that uses electronic media like text, graphics, sound, images, and videos to deliver a lot of information to learners. ICT allows learners to access a lot of resources on the internet and other digital mediums, which evokes self-learning and curiosity. From my experience as a student, I’ve found that videos and animations make learning easier and more interesting. For example, watching a video about volcanic eruptions helped me understand the process better than reading from a textbook. Images and visuals also play a big role in helping me remember information. The ancient saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" is true, especially in the classroom when images can better explain abstract things. As a prospective teacher, I plan to utilize ICT tools in various ways to improve learning. I may start a lesson with a video or animation to catch students' attention. Next, I would invite them to find...

This screenshot shows how my family members stay connected, even though we live in different parts of Bhutan. My mother’s younger sister lives in Shingkhar Lauri, Samdrup Jongkhar, which is in the southeast. Her younger brother lives in Zhemgang, which is in the central part of the country. My parents live in Tongzhang, Trashiyangtse in the east, and I live in Paro in the west. Even though we are all far apart, we stay in touch through Messenger, a communication app.  Messenger helps us talk to each other every day. We share what we did during the day, how we’re feeling, and anything interesting that happened. It feels like we are still close, even though we are far away. We also send each other pictures, voice messages, and videos, which makes it even more fun and personal.  One of our favorite things to do is video calling. Through video calls, we can see each other’s faces and talk in real-time. It makes us feel like we are sitting together, even if we are many kilometers a...

ICT as Communication Tools

We looked at communication tools. These are programs, tools, gadgets, or technologies that make it easier for students to communicate simply with one another within or outside of the classroom, or across the physical boundaries of time and space. A two-way communication process between a sender and a recipient is a communicative tool. Communication tools include social media sites such as blogs, online conference rooms, and email discussion boards. We incorporate classrooms and other communication tools for the following reasons: It facilitates better communication between teachers and students who are leaving. It improved proficiency: Social media allows jobs to be finished more quickly, accurately, and profitably. Encourage us to converse with others in order to expand our knowledge.   Synchronous communication:  sometimes referred to as real-time communication, necessitates multiple users being connected simultaneously. Online video conferencing and Zoom meetings are used i...
