Picture of ICT as Communication tool.
This screenshot shows how my family members stay connected, even though we live in different parts of Bhutan. My mother’s younger sister lives in Shingkhar Lauri, Samdrup Jongkhar, which is in the southeast. Her younger brother lives in Zhemgang, which is in the central part of the country. My parents live in Tongzhang, Trashiyangtse in the east, and I live in Paro in the west. Even though we are all far apart, we stay in touch through Messenger, a communication app.
Messenger helps us talk to each other every day. We share what we did during the day, how we’re feeling, and anything interesting that happened. It feels like we are still close, even though we are far away. We also send each other pictures, voice messages, and videos, which makes it even more fun and personal.
One of our favorite things to do is video calling. Through video calls, we can see each other’s faces and talk in real-time. It makes us feel like we are sitting together, even if we are many kilometers apart. We laugh, smile, and sometimes even share sad moments—just like we would if we were at home together.
This screenshot is a good example of how people use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to stay connected. Apps like Messenger help families talk and stay close, no matter how far apart they live. In the past, it was hard to keep in touch with loved ones who lived far away. But now, technology makes it much easier.
In short, Messenger and other ICT tools help my family stay close, share our lives, and support each other. Even though we live in different places, we are still connected every day, thanks to technology.
