Telegram as an ICT Tool for Information Sharing in College

 In the age of digital learning, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools play a crucial role in improving the flow of information in educational institutions. Among these tools, Telegram has proven to be an effective platform for delivering real-time updates and essential academic information in our college. 

Telegram is used not just for messaging, but more importantly, as a centralized source of information. Groups like “PCE: Games and Sports” and “CR of Spring Semester 2024” serve as hubs for timely updates. For example, announcements about event registrations, coordination meetings, sports schedules, and exam room allocations are regularly posted. 


ICT tools like Telegram enable the sharing of multimedia files, QR codes, documents, and messages with large groups, making information accessible to everyone instantly. The use of features such as pinned messages, QR codes, and structured group discussions allows students and staff to quickly find and refer back to important content. 

These tools eliminate the delays and confusion of traditional notice boards or email chains. Overall, Telegram serves as a powerful ICT tool in our college, streamlining the distribution of academic and administrative information while fostering better organization and awareness among students and faculty.

This screenshot shows how my family members stay connected, even though we live in different parts of Bhutan. My mother’s younger sister lives in Shingkhar Lauri, Samdrup Jongkhar, which is in the southeast. Her younger brother lives in Zhemgang, which is in the central part of the country. My parents live in Tongzhang, Trashiyangtse in the east, and I live in Paro in the west. Even though we are all far apart, we stay in touch through Messenger, a communication app.  Messenger helps us talk to each other every day. We share what we did during the day, how we’re feeling, and anything interesting that happened. It feels like we are still close, even though we are far away.
